BASIC FUNCTION

Under the general direction of the Quality Manager, inspects finished equipment to ensure that these products meet the engineering and quality requirements of the company. Recommends and performs electrical, mechanical and safety inspections for parts, tools, subassemblies, assemblies and final product. Provides support, in the form of technical consultation, includes advice on process capabilities to customers and sales personnel

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Inspects all assemblies and finished equipment for conformance to all current Electrical, Mechanical and Safety Standards and Customer specifications by using established inspection checklists and test procedures.

2. Working and troubleshooting with Machine and Safety Software based on Rockwell and Siemens platforms.

3. Consults and advises on Customer Field issues, recommending solutions to mechanical and electrical issues.

4. Could be required to conduct a variety of on-site evaluations, system start-up and customer training.

5. Consults with Engineering and sales groups to rectify discrepancies discovered during inspection pertaining to design, function or safety.

6. Must follow all safety policies and be able to safely work and maintain control of an energized test area.

7. Recommends quality improvement projects and initiates corrective action to eliminate future problems of inspection.

8. Recommends changes to current engineering and quality standards to improve overall product performance.

9. Maintains quality records/files for product liability purposes.

10. Provides updates to the project teams on progress of machinery in test.

11. Administers elements of the Quality Management System such as the following but not limited to:

• Assist in developing internal quality processes aligned with the Company’s operating objectives.

• Support the company quality tracking system to measure both company and vendor quality performance, ensuring all quality issues are reported, tracked, root cause analyzed and closed.

• Supports the review and dispositions all defective materials, including customer returns, supplier and in-house items.

• Leads root cause analysis to improve quality performance throughout the company (engineering, manufacturing, service, purchasing, sales, order processing).

• Support an environment where quality is part of every employee’s job. • Support supply chain vendor quality management and root cause analysis as needed.

• Supports projects to reduce the Costs of Poor Quality. • Supports the calibration program.

 REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:

• An Associate’s Degree in Engineering or Quality related program of study preferred. Applicable experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

• Experience in working with and troubleshooting Rockwell and Siemens PLC Ladder logic.

• Rockwell, Parker and/or Siemens Drives experience a plus.

• Strong knowledge of electrical safety best practices.

• Experience with fabricating, machining and inspecting complicated parts requiring close dimensional tolerances from blue prints.

• Experience using quality tools and methodologies.

• Experience using Lean methodologies and tools.

• Experience in root cause analysis.

• Ability to work in and lead cross- functional teams at all levels within the organization.

• Strong communication and organizational skills.

• Strong computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint a must.

 
 
 
 
Experience:
